Wai Khru” ceremony of 2019 at NSTRU, succeeding graceful Thai culture and tradition




Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University Students Administrative Board held Wai Khru Ceremony or the Teacher’s Day Observation under the theme ‘Men of the King, Esteeming Teachers’ for the academic year 2019. The ceremony took place at the University Auditorium on July 11, 2019, with Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanata Thatthong, President of Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University presiding over the ceremony. The ceremony proceeded simply but gracefully. It started at 9 a.m., with Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanata Thatthong, President of Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University lit incense sticks and candles to pay respect and gratitude to His Majesty King Bhumibhol Adulyadej and His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun.

Over 1,000 students joined the ceremony, together with administrators, lecturers, staff, alumni, and distinguished guests. As Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University announced that Thursday July 11, 2019 was Wai Kru Day, the Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University Students Administrative Board agreed to hold Wai Kru Ceremony, which was a good tradition that students showed their gratitude and respect to teachers who were dedicated and taught good things to them, to welcome NSTRU’s freshmen.

Next, the student representative led all in saying the vow for being a desired student of Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University, and presenting traditional trays of flowers to teachers by representatives of each faculty and college. This was followed by a student representative carried a tray of “The Royal Coronation Ceremony” textbooks to the President for anointment, which is believed to bring fate and goodness to the students.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanata Thatthong conveyed the following address to the students, “I would like to thank you all students who intend to salute teachers, and thanked the freshmen who chose to study at Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University for tuition. As the university has been established for a period of 62 years, therefore commemorate the important person who was the founder of this opportunity. I would like to thank the Students Administrative Board, Student leader, working groups, and all of whom collaborated to organize the Wai Khru ceremony today. Thank you for having been working that make the ceremony of our university accomplished. May blessings to the good things that happened within today, resulting in everyone being a good people, talking well, and doing goodness.”

The event featured the Wai Kru Pan Decoration competition from each faculty, and judged by all lecturers. The winners were the Social Studies Program, Faculty of Education. The last activity of the ceremony was the certificate giving ceremony to student leaders who showed the best academic improvement, and a student who dedicated his/herself the faculty’s activities.
