NSTRU launches rescue teams to Pak Phanang to help release victims of windstorm ‘PABUK’





From the crisis of Windstorm PABUK in Nakhon Si Thammarat, in the first week of January, 2019, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanata Thatthong, President of the university and and staff members have mobilized fund from donation by different groups of people. The money has been deposited in the KTB account “Ruam Rajabhat Nakhon Ruamjai for assisting Victims windstorm” 816-073718-1, Hua It Branch. Also, the rescue teams were sent to provide relief materials for windstorm crisis victims in Pak Panang district.
Floods and blackouts caused by Tropical Storm Pabuk left nearly 30,000 people in evacuation shelters across southern Thailand, especially in Pak Phanang district, where the first tropical storm to strike Thailand in more than three decades made landfall. Some buildings were damaged and electricity poles were blown down along a 500-metre stretch of the main road to Muang district, resulting in power cuts in some areas. Several trees were also felled by gusty winds, and water was as up to a metre deep in some places.
