Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University gracefully celebrates the 62nd anniverary




On January 9th, 2019, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University celebrated the 62 years of university foundation. The ceremony was organized by the College of Arts and Culture. There were a great number of NSTRU’s management team members and executive management personnel including representatives from other faculties of Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University joining the event to congratulate our University.

As for the official ceremony, the first activity was Mahachai guardian spirit worshipping ceremony for happiness and prosperity of all staff and students, which began at 08.45 am at the Mahachai Guardian Spirit House. Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanata Thatthong, President of Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University as the chairperson who paid tribute to the passed-away professors and those who were attributive to the foundation of the university and Mahachai Guardian Spirit, whom most people in the university respected greatly. The President lit the candles and joss sticks on the altar and led the participants to worship and respectfully engage deva before reading the sacred command on the altar on which the worshipping items were placed. Then, led all to pay homage and presented the worshipping items to the Mahachai Guardian Spirit. Next, the chairperson scattered the popped rice and flowers, and all administrators and participants placed their joss sticks at the tray on the altar as a symbol of respect. Meanwhile, students majoring in dramatic arts and performing of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences performed the worshipping dance and classical music.

Then at 09.50 a.m. at the Nilphayak Room of the Office of the President, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanata Thatthong, President of Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University again presided over by lighting candles and joss sticks to pay respect to the Triple Gems, followed by food offering to 9 monks by administrators, students and staff. A lot of administrators, staff, students and other interested parties participated in this religious ritual. The President and administrators presented the monks breakfast. All listened to the blessing prayers and were sprinkled with sacred water. Finally the monks chanted the special prayer of merit towards those who passed away, showing graceful Thai tradition.

On this gracious occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanata Thatthong led all in saying the resolution, aim, and emphasis, and followed by the singing of the university anthem together at the end.
