NSTRU organizes the Candle Procession Ceremony of 2019




On July 16, 2019, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University by the College of Arts and Culture organized the candle procession ceremony and Candle donation or Buddhist Lent candle offering ceremony on the occasion of Asalha Puja Day and Buddhist Lent Day or Buddhist Rains Retreat, to encourage Buddhists of NSTRU to preserve Buddhism. The procession was set at the main gate (gate no.1) and has paraded to Wittayalai Krun Rangsan temple around 9.00 hrs. Throughout the route of the procession, there were villagers who live along both sides of the road to make merit with the university.

Also, administrators led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanata Thatthong, President of Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabaht University, lecturers, staff and students accompanied by dancers and musicians in traditional clothing to attend the event in numbers exceeding 100 people who all went on the merit making on Asalha Puja Day and Buddhist Lent Day.

Moreover, the event also promoted Buddhist teachings for appreciation in daily life and to live according to Buddha's teachings. The aim was to promote Buddhism and promote activities in line with the strategy of Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat Universiy in conservation of arts and culture, values, ethics and morals. As the procession reached the temple, there was the candle procession around the Ubosot (Ordination Hall) clockwise three times.

The event featured the Candle donation or Buddhist Lent candle offering ceremony by dissemination of candle offering to another 6 temples where locating nearby the university, including; Khao Pun temple, Ban Tan temple, Klong Kaew temple, Pa Yang temple, Promlok temple, and Khao Khun Phnom temple.
