DEQP announces NSTRU as the third place in Thailand for Green Youth

August 7, 2019 - "DEQP" or Department of Environment Quality Promotion of Ministry of Natures and Resource Environment, a state enterprise which acts as a core organization to increase public awareness and provide local and regional communities with the abilities to enable them to participate in the care and management of environment announced the university ranking in Green Youth Ranking 2018 or the universities that carry out environmental activities of youth within the university.

The ranking in this category or the Green Youth project has been organized the third time since 2016, and is under the evaluation in four areas, namely; 1) eco-friendly consumption; 2) waste management; 3) increasing green space; and 4) energy management. Also, the project that was evaluated needed to be a project that has clear, concrete results, efficiency, and can be extended or publicized. The score of the evaluation is divided into 3 categories: gold-standard benchmark (excellent), receiving score from 85% or more; silver-standard benchmark (very good), receiving score between 75%-84%; and bronze-standard benchmark (good), receiving score between 50%-74%, respectively.

The event was honored to welcome Mr. Wijarn Simachaya, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, who presided over the ceremony and presented the awards to universities where have been outstanding in their work and activities this year, which was held at TK Palace Hotel, Bangkok.

This year, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University was ranked in the 3rd place of 42 universities in Thailand, and was classified in the gold-standard benchmark. In this regard, Ajarn Wattananarong Makphan, Advisor to the Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation Club together with a group of students represented NSTRU to receive the shield of honor from the Department of Environment Quality Promotion.
