NSTRU follows Buddhism tradition by organizing the merit-making ceremony on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary celebration of NSTRU




On January 9, 2020, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University celebrated the 63 years of university foundation with merit-making activities by giving alms and offering foods to the monks who chanted the blessing prayers.

The first activity was food offering to a large number of monks and novices, which began at 4.00 a.m. at the courtyard in front of the Office of the President. Many student and staff members from different faculties also brought food, snacks, and beverage to give to visitors free of charge.
The atmosphere went on full of warmth, showing the love and unity of NSTRU people and the people nearby.

Then at 9.00 a.m., there will be the Mahachai Great Spirit worshipping ceremony at the ceremonial venue of the Mahachai Great Spirit Pavillion, Asst. Prof. Kanata Thatthong, Ph.D., President of Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University presided over the ceremony by lighting candles and joss sticks to pay respect to the Triple Gems, followed by presenting of worshipping items and worshipping dance by students majoring Thai Dramatic and Arts of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Worshipping ceremony was held every year with its objectives to worship and show the faith of personnel, students including general public toward the Mahachai Great Spirit, which is considered as the mental reliance of them.

After that, around 10.00 a.m. at the Nilphyak Room, President Office, Asst. Prof. Kanata Thatthong, Ph.D., again presided over another food offering ceremony to 9 senior monks in the Buddhist chanting ceremony. A lot of administrators, staff, students and Buddhists participated in this religious ritual. The President and administrators presented the monks breakfast. All listened to the blessing prayers and were sprinkled with sacred water. Finally the monks chanted the special prayer of merit towards those who passed away, showing graceful Thai tradition.
Finally, Asst. Prof. Kanata Thatthong, Ph.D., led all staff of Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University in making a vow to do good deeds and develop university with the good heart in front of HM King Rama X’s portrait, followed by singing a marching song of university and signing the certification book of civil services practice by the senior management team included, the President, vice presidents, assistants to the president, deans and directors.
