The 2nd ICRU International Conference on World Sustainable Development (WSD 2020)

On February 17-19, 2020, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University by the Research and Development Institute in hands with its coalitions in co-organizing the 2nd ICRU International Conference on World Sustainable Development (WSD 2020) under the title, "Sustainable Community Development", at Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University.

This conference was co-organized through academic cooperation between 8 institutions, consisting of 6 well-known domestic educational institutions, namely Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, who was the lead host of the 1st ICRU International Conference, Chiang Rai Rajabhat University, Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University, Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University, Lampang Rajabhat University, and Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University, and 2 renowned international educational institutions, namely Cobatato Foundation College of Science and Technology from Philippines, and National Pingtung University from Taiwan, who would be the lead host of the 3rd ICRU International Conference.

Participants included researcher representatives of four countries including, Taiwan, Philippines, South Korea, and Thailand. The objective of the conference was to strengthen academic and research relationships among Asian countries, which leads to academic and research development at an international level. Particularly, it was an opportunity for faculty and researchers to be informed of how the quality of research work of the network and the quality of the research presentation is. It also encourages faculty, academics and researchers to express their opinions and needs regarding the research as well as, related matters that should be researched in the future through exchanging ideas with researchers directly.

The opening ceremony took place on February 17, 2020 at Pakdeedamrongrit Auditorium, Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University with the reporting of conference’s objective by Dr. Tatcha Sampim, Vice Director of Research and Development Institute of Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University, then followed by delivering a welcome speech to participants by Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanata Thatthong, President of Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University.

The event featured many important moments, including the handover of the shield to the next host university between NSTRU (Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University) to NPTU (National Pingtung University, Taiwan), and a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing meremony between CFCST (Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology, Philippines) and NSTRU (Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University). Also, there were 3 topics of keynote speech by honorary keynote speakers which included the topic on 'King Philosophy for Sustainable Community Development' by Mr. Suvat Chirapant, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chaipattana Foundation; ‘University Management Style for Community Development’ by Professor Mike Guu, President of National Pingtung University, Taiwan; ‘Science in Local Development’ by Dr. Onofre S. Corpuz, Vice President for Research Development and Extension of Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology, Philippines.

In addition, the conference is driven by researcher representatives through presentation in forms of 54 oral works and 7 poster works with a total of 61 items. There were an estimate number of 200 participants, both presenters and attendees.
